Kilmer Food Pantry
When school dismisses on Friday, some of our students will leave their classroom, uncertain whether they will have enough food to eat that weekend. During the school week, most of these children depend on the free and reduced meal program here at Kilmer. Kilmer Middle School and the Kilmer PTA partner to help feed our students in need. The Kilmer Food Pantry was established to send these students home with a weekend food pack to help them have enough to eat for the weekend. The Kilmer Food Pantry has expanded services to help families provide meals throughout the month, support learning by offering school supplies, and provide warm coats and new socks in the winter. Distribution is done in a discreet manner.
What you can do to help - a child will not necessarily tell you that they don’t enough food at home, but through observation, you can begin to see patterns and/or behavior that will set them apart. If you think a student may have food insecurity, please contact the school counselor or social worker.
How to get involved in supporting our school community today!
To meet our goal of providing weekend meals to children in need, here's how to help:
- Donate non-perishable food items from our Amazon Wishlist. Items will be delivered directly to Kilmer Middle School.
- Donate non-perishable food items on the marked carts in the main office (See suggestions below for ideas).
- Donate funds directly to the PTA and we’ll do the shopping for you!
Jocleyn Holguin will be leading this effort supported by Sarah Bareis, Debra David, Christine Hessinger, Maria Peal, Jenny Murphy, and the PTA.

Food Pantry Club:
The Food Pantry Club exists to increase student involvement with the Pantry. Club members will stock inventory and organize the Pantry every week (Wednesday during the first block after school). We welcome any students interested in joining us. Contact us at foodpantry@kilmerpta.org. Thank you again to all the families who have already supported the pantry! Our Kilmer families are greatly helped by your contributions.
